The clipboard feature of the Family/Part Editor works much like a standard clipboard – it stores the data that has been cut or copied and the clipboard stores the data intelligently. It prevents users from performing illegal operations such as copying a part from a part family and pasting it into a component family.

The Family/Part Editor enables cut or copy data at any level to the clipboard. Copy a family member to the clipboard (part, compound part, or component); or copy an entire family to the clipboard (Doors, Windows); or copy an entire file to the clipboard (*.xml). When cutting or copying data from/to the clipboard, the data remains in the buffer until something else is cut or copied.
